Current Practice
I am an accredited counsellor with the A.C.I. (Addiction Counsellors of Ireland) and an affiliate member of the I.A.C.P. (Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and work to their code of ethics.
From September 1st, 2020, I returned to Co. Fermanagh to work in my home-based private practice, located 8.2 miles from Enniskillen in Maguiresbridge, Co. Fermanagh. See my contact page for location details.
Family Programme
It is my intention to bring my Education/Family programme to as many people as possible, either in group settings or remotely via Zoom. See my Family Programme page for full details.
Professional Experience
Smarmore Castle Private Clinic (2017-2020)
Worked outside Ardee, Co. Louth supporting patients through their treatment programme. Promoted to Specialist Therapist for Family Support.
Private Practice & Sessional Work (2013-2017)
Worked in private practice outside the village of Rosslea, Co. Fermanagh, along with sessional counselling for:
- Nexus NI in Enniskillen - supporting Adult Survivors of Sexual Abuse.
- Action Mental Health New Horizons Enniskillen - developed and facilitated the Impact of Alcohol Programme called the Time Out Programme which is Accredited with 10CPD points from the A.C.I. along with doing one to one support with service users. I also facilitated a Women’s group there which proved life changing for many of the group members.
- Aisling Centre Enniskillen - worked as an outreach counsellor for the Probation Service NI. Doing one to one counselling in the centre and facilitating the Journeying Together Family Support Group every two weeks for family members of all addictions.
- Various locations Fermanagh - facilitated my Education / Family Programme in several locations in Co. Fermanagh and surrounding counties.
Derry & Donegal Experience (2010-2013)
Worked in Derry City at the Y.A.R.D. Project as project counsellor and in White Oaks Rehabilitation Centre, Donegal, supporting residents through their 30-day programme.
Programmes
Developed and facilitated a one day Education/Family programme for the family, friends, people who live, work or have lived with people who use or abuse alcohol, drugs or and gambling that I ran on a regular basis in Columba House, Queen St, Derry and out of White Oaks Rehabilitation Centre. This programme is accredited with 6 CPD points from the A.C.I.
Training & Clinical Placements
- One-year clinical placement with Nexus NI Derry - counselled adult survivors of sexual abuse
- Nine months at Aiseiri Treatment Centre in Wexford during training
- Three years co-facilitating pre-marriage courses with Accord in Enniskillen
